We’ve been using video on client sites for some time now and the results are excellent.
Working mainly with accountants in the UK (although not exclusively) video is a great differentiator in a crowded market and not something that is altogether expected.
Google Analytics stats improve dramatically and the most important stat is that conversions also increase. It is also a particularly versatile medium that can educate and and disentangle complex concepts and offerings as well as promoting and selling products and services.
The real winner of course with video is your ability to really communicate effectively 1-1 with your viewer and keep them interested. We find that people are more than willing to be entertained for the duration of a 2 minute video but getting someone to read the equivalent in one dimensional text is pretty tough to say the least.
And the effect on SEO can be excellent with the right keywords and tags. The YouTube / Google link is clearly very powerful in this respect
The good news is that clients are always pleasantly surprised at the modest cost. As a company we have invested in production and editing software which was not particularly expensive but allows us to produce high quality videos at a very reasonable cost. Professional voice- overs are an absolute necessity in my estimation.
A video provides great marketing collateral and can be used on websites in emails and as fodder for your Social Networking. What are you waiting for?
